Today we’ve got some amazing news to pass along!

We elected a new President – Vivien Drese, the proud owner of R&R Photography in Youghal, Co. Cork.

# Meet Vivien:

Hey there, I’m Vivien!

Originally from Germany, I grew up near Berlin on a farm with my four rambunctious brothers. I always was a little nerd, loved school, loved horses and my friends. Growing up with parents raised in the Cold War definitely made me who I am today and I am very grateful to them and the family values they taught me.

My passion for caring led me to specialise as a pediatric nurse, focusing on the delicate world of neonatals.

Working on a ward where hope seemed scarce for families, I witnessed heart-wrenching circumstances that touched my soul at a very young age and inbetween sorrow and challenges, I discovered the power of preserving memories in cherished photographs of those precious little souls. Those beautiful little fighters showed their bravery, beauty and resilience, which shined through even the toughest moments.

Life took a beautiful turn when I found myself drawn to East Cork, Ireland, following the call of love 18 years ago. On day 3 of my travels through Youghal, Co. Cork, I found myself in a hot tub next to this very charming Irish fella. I never imagined myself living in Ireland, but look I am still here 18 years later.

The true joy in my life began when we welcomed our son in 2012, followed by the sweet arrival of our little girl in 2015, completing our perfect family.

Up to that moment, photography wasn’t on my radar, only when I held my newborn and realized the importance of freezing those precious moments in time. Frustrated by the lack of modern family photographers in my area back then (many years ago!), I decided to take matters into my own hands. My photography journey started a decade ago, although it took a rebranding a couple of years later – apparently, my original business name was a Google search nightmare!

Specialising in capturing the magic of newborns and families, I pour my heart and soul into each shot, believing that every image holds a story waiting to be told. I believe in treasuring every moment, every laugh, and every glance that binds us together.

And the adventure doesn’t stop there!

In 2023 I started to proudly serve as part of the IPPVA council and I took the role as the new President of IPPVA in July 2024.

As the new President of the IPPVA, I’m excited to lead us on a path towards a vibrant future for all working professionals in Ireland.

I believe in bringing people together and helping each other grow. That’s why I want to make sure IPPVA members are ready to tackle the challenges and opportunities coming their way.

With technology moving so fast these days, it’s important for us to keep learning and improving our skills. I’ll be encouraging everyone to embrace new tools and stay ahead of the game so we can create amazing work that our clients will love.

We also know that client expectations are changing rapidly. In today’s world of social media and digital marketing, clients want more diverse and engaging content than ever before. That’s why under my leadership, IPPVA will be there to help members diversify their services, expand their offerings, and meet the evolving needs of their clientele.

And let’s not forget the tough times we’ve all faced due to the pandemic and rising costs. Together, we can build a more stable and fair environment where everyone can thrive.

With me leading the way, IPPVA is gearing up for a new era filled with growth, innovation, and a stronger sense of community among our members. My goal is to guide us towards a future where photographers and videographers in Ireland can succeed and shine in a constantly changing industry.

The job as a photographer, no matter what style or subject, can be quite lonely – most of us do not work together as a team. I invite you to come along with me as we journey through training, new friendships, new opportunities and everlasting memories.
