About Tomas
Not in Public Practice -
BACK STORY:
Remembering traditional darkroom practices but moving towards the future:
Earlier, way earlier I gained experience as photographer & darkroom technician, as a lithographic printer on an A3 AB Dick offset machine, making the plates too and also shooting video - who remembers the orange of the JVC 2000E? I stored away a City & Guilds 744 in Professional Photography on my journey. In 2002 I Graduated with a BSc in Medical Illustration, (Medical Photography). I currently work for University College Cork and provide Professional Imaging Services to the University and Medical communities. I value continued professional development and maintain memberships of the Institute of Medical Illustrators (IMI) & The Irish Professional Photographers & Videographers Association (IPPVA).
THE NOW:
Assignments are quite diverse and may include:
Current Events imagery - regularly working to ensure maximum Media placement for the University - very often live Tweeting images from a "proper camera"or perhaps using Instagram/Facebook Live to enhance the client experience.
Professional Profile Imagery for Traditional & Social Media use. Over 1600 University staff photographed in studio.
Corporate Promotional imaging - Providing imagery for promotional/information brochures for UCC Colleges, Departments and Research Centers.
Medical Imaging - providing Medical Photography Services to Hospitals in the city.
In the past have worked uniquely & in collaboration with a Stock Photography supplier to maximize imagery availability to the University.
Shooting and providing imagery to the University image bank, when time, opportunity & seasons allow.
THE FUTURE:
Continuing to explore new imagery capturing & delivery methods - always providing engaging imagery.
Seriously, have you seen what imagery you can get from phones?? Wow, love it & it only gets better.
To make clients & employer aware that as I am employed by University College Cork, all images I create become part of the unique legacy and visual history of the University.
OTHER STUFF:
Will happily admit to using Canon gear but also a lover of Lumix gear. Recently personally invested in an S5 which I also use on assignment....
My old (1998) Subaru, an even older Vauxhall & Apple stuff are cool too :-)
Please feel free to shoot me an email about... well stuff .... - imagery, coffee, cars, Spike Milligan etc
